We Are Donating $1 for Every New Facebook Like in December to Operation Uplift!

For every fan we get in December, we will donate $1 for Operation Uplift to Help the Homeless!

It’s December, and that means it’s a time to be with friends and family in the comfort of our own home. Unfortunately for the thousands of homeless in the Kansas City area, that reality is not possible. Forced to live outside in the cold, with very little resources, winter can be rough.

That’s why for the month of December, Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City will donate $1 to Operation Uplift for every person that “Likes” our Facebook page. Simply put, we will take our fan count on the 31^st, subtract where we are today, and pay Uplift the difference.

Uplift is a Kansas City based nonprofit that provides food, clothing, and other assistance to the homeless community of Kansas City. They can be found on the web at www.Uplift.org.

MBKC: Review of 2011

2011 has been quite a year for us here at Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City. With everything from events, new business partners, new vehicles, and our changes in web presence and social media, we have been busier than ever before.

Parts and Service Go-Kart Championship!

Some people may not be aware, but Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City and Aristocrat Motors are both owned by a parent corporation, The Soave Automotive Group. The Soave Automotive Group operates these stores as separate facilities, but we do emphasize to all of our employees the importance of working together as a team.

It is extremely important that a parts and service department to function as a team so mistakes are not made and to ensure our customers receive the best possible experience.

So we organized a giant go-kart championship.

 This week at Sadler’s Racing in Olathe, members from Aristocrat Motors and Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City took to the indoor track to settle who our fastest go kart driver is. 

The tournament is a series of rounds, where each driver has 10 minutes to race, and the drivers with the fastest lap times advance to the subsequent rounds.

Winter Driving Tips

Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City wishes everyone a safe holiday season. With the weather getting colder and as people are traveling to see family, we would like to share with you some winter weather driving tips:

1.       Get a checkup: The last thing you want is a breakdown while it’s snowing. Come in and have your vehicle checked out by scheduling a service appointment at: http://www.aristocratmotors.com/schedule-service. These checks can include:

a.       Battery Check

b.      Coolant Check

c.       Find/Fix any Leaks

d.      Check Wipers

e.      Fill Washer Fluid

f.        Check Rear Defroster

g.       Check traction control and safety systems.

2.       Go slow. Even though your vehicle may have 4 or All-Wheel Drive, that doesn’t mean it stops any faster. Make sure to allow yourself enough time to get there safely.

3.       Keep your gas tank full: In the event of a heavy traffic jam or getting stuck, you need to make sure your car can keep running long enough for help to arrive or the traffic to clear. (Plus the engine runs your heater… wouldn’t want that going out in a blizzard)

4.       Keep your phone charged: For the same reason as in #3, it is important that your phone is fully charged when you leave home and work so you can always call for assistance.

5.       Get snow tires: Many of our customers enjoy the thrill of performance driving, and some of their tire setups are not adequately equipped to handle heavy snow. If that’s your case, we recommend keeping a set of snow tires and wheels for the winter driving season.

SEMA 2011

Two weeks ago, our accessories manager boarded a plane to Las Vegas. While most head to Vegas for relaxation and gambling, Cheryl went there for the 2011 SEMA show. SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association) is an annual showcase that highlights aftermarket parts and accessories for cars and trucks. 

Each year the Las Vegas Convention Center, along with dozens of adjoining buildings and parking lots plays host to thousands of custom automobiles built by parts manufacturers, tuning companies, and individuals from around the world.

This year was no exception. “It was honestly a very hard show to visit in just two days,” Cheryl remarked. 

When we talked about accessory trends that were prevalent throughout the show, she mentioned that the matte colored paints, similar to the Designo custom exteriors from Mercedes-Benz were becoming very popular. Also, companies that had previously focused on rear seat DVD entertainment systems were now looking to iPads instead, as they are more functional and can be updated via WiFi.

Highway Cleanup

Someone once said “If everyone took care of the area in front of their front door, the world would be a better place.” Here at Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City, we take that pretty seriously. 

With the initiative of our service manager, Matt Yates, we adopted the mile of highway 150 that MBKC sits on.

As part of our commitment to taking care of our mile, members of our staff met in September for the first cleanup. Since it was the first time out, there was quite a bit to do, since the highway had not been claimed.

After getting the stretch of road in order, all we need to do is conduct regular maintenance to keep our road looking clean.

We hope more businesses take an interest in keeping our community clean, because it’s up to all of us!
