In early September, we gave you the statistic that 1 in 42 kids in the Kansas City Metro didn’t have their own place to sleep at night. At that time, we announced that we had planned to pair with a local charity, Sleepyhead Beds, in an effort to raise 125 beds for kids in the Kansas City Area.
On September 10th, we held that bed drive at Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City. Together with our employees, customers, and business partners, we were able to raise those 125 beds for the kids of KC, holding the most successful bed drive in the history of Sleepyhead Beds.
A week later, on September 17th, there was a second bed drive at Aristocrat Motors, our sister store across town. They too hit the mark of 125 beds for the metro area, bringing the week’s total to 250 beds for our community.
2011 marks the 125th anniversary of Mercedes-Benz automobiles, the oldest car company in the world. We would like to thank all of the people who helped us celebrate this milestone by raising 125 beds at each Mercedes-Benz store in Kansas City. It was an outstanding success that changed hundreds of lives.
It was so successful that Sleepyhead Beds was chosen as one of 15 finalists for a national grant program from Mercedes-Benz. The 15 finalists can be voted on at the Mercedes-Benz USA Facebook Page, where the 5 finalists with the most votes on October 21st will each win $25,000 for their cause!
